Sustainability at Ms Bird’s Shop
Good food for birds should also be good for the planet they came from.
We’re a small, family-run operation โ but sustainability is something we think about on every order. The birds we feed are closer to their wild ancestors than any other pet in your home, and we want the habitats those ancestors still live in to be around for generations.
Here’s what we do, in plain terms:
How we try to do better
Recyclable packaging
We pack orders in plain kraft paper and recyclable cardboard. No plastic bubble wrap, no single-use styrofoam, no gift-box theatrics.
Local sourcing first
Where a quality local source exists, we buy local โ supporting Bangladeshi farmers and cutting import-freight emissions. Imported seeds are used only when the local crop can’t match the species’ nutritional needs.
No synthetic fillers
No artificial colours. No sugar coatings. No padding ingredients that bulk out a mix but add no nutritional value. What’s on the label is what’s in the bag.
Efficient delivery
Inside Dhaka we use bicycle + motorbike couriers to cut delivery emissions. Orders are batched by area wherever possible.
Minimal waste
We portion mixes on demand to reduce expired stock. Damaged or short-dated stock goes to rescue aviaries, never landfill.
Ethical trade
We do not stock wild-caught birds, captive-bred “exotics” with unclear provenance, or any product tied to the illegal trade.
“We’re not perfect โ and we don’t claim to be. But every order we ship is a small chance to do better than yesterday.”
Questions, suggestions, ideas?
